PREPARATION OF PLANT MUCILAGE CLARIFICANTS AND THEIR EFFECT ON JAGGERY PROCESSING OF SUGARCANE VARIETY Co 86032

Abstract: Objective: The aim of the study was to prepare jaggery from sugarcane variety Co86032 using plants mucilage as clarificants and to determine the effect of plant mucilage on jaggery processing. Methods:Production of jaggery using five plant clarificants namely Aloe vera, Flax seeds, Fenugreek, Purslane and Malabar spinach at three different concentrations i.e., 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.4% of raw sugarcane juice and the jaggery prepared without any clarificants serves as control. During production, the processing parame… Show more

“…Similarly, mucilages obtained from leaves of Adansonia digitata, Spinacia oleracea leaves demonstrated their ability to act as suspending agent in paracetamol suspensions [33,34]. Another potential application of mucilages isolated from Aloe vera, Flax seeds, Fenugreek seeds, Purslane and Malabar spinach has been in the field of jaggery clarification by suspending the impurities and colloidal particles in the form of a scum [35].…”

“…They learn from these testing that Aloe vera at 0.4 per cent eliminated the most scum (4.07 per cent), required the least amount of processing time (72.33 minutes), and produced the most jaggery (10.92 kg). The submission [2].…”

High swelling index of HM might enable it to function as suspending agent for pediatric and adult suspensions.…”
