Preparation of High-Performance Adsorbent from Coal for Adsorptive Denitrogenation of Liquid Hydrocarbon Streams

Abstract: A high-performance adsorbent, CDA-C2, has been prepared from lignite by a chemical activation method with NaOH as an activation agent for removing nitrogen compounds from liquid hydrocarbon streams. The effects of coal ranks, activation agents (NaOH, KOH, NaOH + KOH, or H 3 PO 4 ), and activation methods (chemical and physical) on the adsorptive denitrogenation (ADN) performance of the coal-derived adsorbents (CDAs) were examined. ADN performance of the prepared CDAs was evaluated in a batch system using a mod… Show more

“…Compared with dcPEG-600 in our previous work, dcPEG-250/TEACl also showed greater advantages in N-selectivity (878 for indole, 385 for pyrrole, 542 for quinoline, and 1825 for pyridine) and oil yield (>96.0%), as presented in Figure S4. Even the data of the DES were better than those of some ILs or carbon materials. ,, Therefore, it was concluded that dcPEG-250/TEACl was an excellent candidate for EDN.…”

“…Adsorptive denitrogenation (ADN) is one of the crucial technologies that are highly environmentally friendly and do not need any hydrogen usage for removing NCCs from fuel. Adsorption of NCCs from fuel is a promising process in which MOFs can be successfully utilized (Sentorun-Shalaby et al 2013). Several MOFs have been used for ADN, among which MIL-101 had notable adsorption capacity and selectivity, for removing NCCs from fossil fuels Edited by Xiu-Qiu Peng (Ahmed et al 2013a).…”

“…Therefore, many other non-HDS methods, such as adsorptive desulfurization (ADS), extractive desulfurization (EDS), and oxidative desulfurization (ODS), have been developed in the latest few decades. Among all of these non-HDS methods, ODS is considered to be one of the most promising desulfurization methods. , In this process, sulfur compounds are oxidized to their corresponding sulfones by oxidants, , such as hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), ozone (O 3 ), , tert -butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP), hydrogen peroxide cumene, molecule oxygen (O 2 ), etc.…”
