Preparation of hexadecyltrimethoxysilane-modified silica nanocomposite hydrosol and superhydrophobic cotton coating

Abstract: The hexadecyltrimethoxysilane(HDTMS)-modified silica (H-SiO 2 ) nanocomposite hydrosol was prepared via water-based sol-gel reaction with methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) and HDTMS as precursors under alkaline condition in the presence of surfactant. “…According to the results, characteristic peaks in the ranges of 1100-1120 cm -1 , 810-820 cm -1 and 470-480 cm -1 are attributed to Si-O-Si asymmetrical stretching vibrations [28], symmetrical stretching vibrations 9 [29,30] and bending vibrations respectively [29,30] (Figures 3-a and b).
