Preparation of Few Layer Three‐dimensional Graphene Networks by CVD for Energy Storage Applications

Abstract: Three-dimensional graphene networks (3DGNs) with a controllable number of layers (from monolayer to few layers) are fabricated by CVD on a Ni foam rod (NFR) template. The special morphology of the NFR and accompanying concentration gradients of CH 4 gas provide the necessary conditions to deposit the 3DGNs with varied thicknesses on different areas of one substrate. The high conductivity, large Brunner-Emmett-Teller (BET) area, and three-dimensional network of the 3DGNs make it a potential material for use in … Show more

“…The value of d is very small for the RGO ($3.1 Â 10 À9 m 2 K W À1 ) and 3DGNs ($6.3 Â 10 À9 m 2 K W À1 ) modified composites (based on our previous study, the average thicknesses of RGO is about ten-layers $3.4 nm, and the 3DGNs is assumed with three-layers structure $1 nm) [21][22][23][24] , which are much smaller than that of other carbon materials modified epoxy resin (such as CNTs $10 À8 m 2 K W À1 , black carbon >10 À6 m 2 K W À1 and NG $3.8 Â 10 À7 m 2 K W À1 ). Moreover, the obtained values are in agreement with the molecular dynamics (MD) simulations [26,[31][32][33][34].…”

“…Based on our recent report, a moderated amount of surface defects of the 3DGNs can play as a positive role to improve the contact between the graphene basal plane and matrix [10, 11]. However, some tedious adjustment processes including a precise CH 4 flow and a strict cooling rate of the substrate are needed during the CVD procedure [12]. Therefore, an idea on combining the RGO nanosheets and 3DGNs to utilize their advantages is naturally presented.…”
