“…The eggshell membrane was not flat, existed a certain curvature. Thus, the stress of the membrane was not uniform during the tensile testing and a step fracturing behavior was observed) and a piece of paper (7.5 ± 0.4 MPa, 7.8 ± 2.3%; which was also used as the control group in earlier reports), 39 the mechanical properties of the PCL/gelatin membrane were higher, and the adjustable mechanical properties will be better suitable to the repairing of TM perforation.…”

“…The tensile properties of PCL/gelatin membranes were evaluated using a WDW‐1 Universal Testing Machine (Songdun Machine Equipment Co., Ltd., China) at the wet state. Briefly, testing specimens were cut into rectangular membrane with a length of 50 mm and width of 10 mm and were tested at a strain rate of 0.5 mm/min at ambient conditions according to previous research 31,38,39 . The testing standard and processes refer to the International Standard (ISO 527‐3, Test conditions for films and sheets).…”

“…Both studies demonstrated that the cross-linking agent enhanced the mechanical and water resistance kinetic of nanofibers. The resulting scaffolds showed an improved survival rate of different cells and are biocompatible for tissue engineering of TMP [166,167]. The PEOT/PBT nanofibers hold superior structural and mechanical properties.…”

“…Tympanic membrane perforations have also been treated with electrospun scaffolds. Like corneal applications, TM electrospun scaffolds typically combine natural and synthetic polymers to achieve the necessary mechanics for surgical handling, cell attachment, and proliferation. , Immich et al utilized a poly(lactic acid) (PLLA)/PLGA copolymer electrospinning technique for myringoplasties in rats . These membranes were seeded with fibroblast and keratinocyte cocultures, producing 100% recovery of TM perforations in all experimental groups.…”
