Preparation of Crystal Violet Lactone Complex and Its Effect on Discoloration of Metal Surface Coating

The optical properties of PLA 3D printing materials and their influencing factors were considered relative to the manufacture of personalized 3D printing PLA lampshades. Rectangular PLA 3D printing specimens were designed, and their light transmittance and haze were analyzed in terms of color, layer height, and wall thickness using UV spectrophotometer. Using the preferred molding parameters for 3D printing of PLA lampshade, three lampshades were designed and completed via 3D printing model fabrication. The results revealed that the milky white specimen had stronger light scattering and better luminous uniformity than the colorless specimen, making it more suitable for the manufacturing of 3D printing lampshades. Among the 3D printing molding parameters, the effect of layer height on the light transmittance and haze of the specimen was not significant. Considering the factors such as time and cost, a 0.3 mm layer height was selected as the preferred molding parameter. The effect of wall thickness on the light transmittance and haze of the specimen was significant. As the wall thickness of the specimen increased, the light transmittance of the specimen decreased, and the haze increased. Considering the factors such as optical performance, time, and cost, a 0.8 mm wall thickness was selected as the preferred molding parameter.

Immersion polishing post-treatment of PLA 3D printed formed parts on its surface and mechanical performance

Steps were taken to improve the surface and mechanical performance of PLA 3D printed formed parts, reduce the “step texture” produced by the fused deposition process, and improve the quality of 3D printing by means of post-treatment. The PLA 3D formed parts were immersion polished with chloroform solution to investigate the effects of immersion polishing on the surface roughness, surface gloss, mechanical properties, and other factors of PLA formed parts. The results of the pre-experiment showed that 90% of the effect was due to the optimal concentration value of chloroform solution and 10% was the optimization of time for immersion polishing. Under the pre-experimental conditions, the surface roughness of the formed parts was reduced by 87%, and the surface gloss was increased by 510%, the surface quality and gloss were significantly improved, and the “step texture” was significantly reduced; meanwhile, the tensile and compressive ultimate strength of the formed parts were increased by 9.41% and 13.09%, respectively, and the mechanical performance were improved, and the quality of 3D printing post-treatment was significantly improved.

To manufacture 3D-printed polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) products with excellent light transmittance performance, this study evaluated the principle of light transmission and the influencing factors of fused deposition methods (FDM) 3D-printed PETG products. This study explored the influence of different slicing parameters (layer height, extrusion rate, and printing speed) on the light transmittance of PETG products via a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The results showed that, in the range of 0.1 to 0.3 mm, the PETG specimens with 0.2 mm layer height had the best light transmittance performance; in the range of 100% to 120%; the PETG specimens with 110% extrusion rate had the best light transmittance performance; in the range of 20 to 40 mm/s printing speed, the PETG specimens with 40 mm/s printing speed had the best light transmittance performance. Comparison of image visibility showed that PETG products with layer height of 0.2 mm, extrusion rate of 110%, and printing speed of 40 mm/s had the best image visibility.
