Preparation of amino‐reserved magnetic chitosan microsphere and its application in adsorbing endotoxin

Abstract: In this article, we present a novel amino‐reserved magnetic chitosan microsphere (ARMCM) prepared from chitosan and Fe3O4 through inverse suspension crosslinking by formaldehyde and epichlorohydrin. The density of ARMCM was 1.47 g/mL, and the amino content was 2.44 mmol/g. The measurements data indicated that the saturation magnetization (σs) of ARMCM was 23.2 emu/g. The adsorption results showed that these magnetic chitosan microspheres had good adsorption capacity on endotoxin: the maximum absorption capacit… Show more

“…Since most of sodium alginate based materials focused on the fabrication of hydrogel beads for the application, scant report on the preparation of sodium alginate based carbonaceous functional materials. Furthermore, to make full use of the function of magnetic character and stability of carbon-based material, and following on continuous interest in designing functional sorbents for emerging pollutants, 6,[19][20][21][22][23][24] herein a new method to synthesize magnetic carbonaceous materials from Fe 3+ gelled sodium alginate through facile carbothermal reduction treatment is reported. The economic sodium alginate and FeCl 3 $6H 2 O were chosen as the carbon precursor and magnetic precursor, respectively.…”

“…As shown in Figure b, there are mainly two binding sites between lipid A and SG-PEI. One was between the positively charged −NH 2 groups on SG-PEI with the negatively charged phosphate group in lipid A through the electrostatic reaction, and the other was the hydrogen bonds between the −OH groups with lipid A. The adsorption energy (Δ E ) of lipid A on SG-PEI was calculated as −110.7 kcal/mol (Table ) from the function, Δ E = E lipid A‑SG‑PEI – ( E lipid A + E SG‑PEI ).…”
