Preparation of a Series of Pd@UIO-66 by a Double-Solvent Method and Its Catalytic Performance for Toluene Oxidation

Abstract: This paper reports on the preparation, characterization, and catalytic properties of the Pd@UIO-66 for toluene oxidation. The samples are prepared by the double-solvent method to form catalysts with large specific surface area, highly dispersed Pd0 (Elemental palladium) and abundant adsorbed oxygen, which are characterized by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The results show that as the Pd content increases, the adsorbed oxygen con… Show more

“…40 Moreover, Pd@UiO-66 was also prepared by the double-solvent method. 41 5a exhibits the smooth and uniform hexagonal ZIF-8 with a particle size ranging 80−100 nm, showing good agreement with previous reports. 42 The structure of ZIF-8 after laser treatment did not change from the pristine ZIF-8 (Figure 5b).…”

“…The major corresponding peaks of ZIF-8 were (011), (002), ( 112), ( 022), (013), and (222) planes at the diffraction peaks of 7.39, 10.43, 12.82, 14.77, 16.51, and 18.10°, respectively, which are similar to those reported in the literature. 41 The XRD pattern of Au@ ZIF-8 provided the presence of Au crystal peaks at 2θ of 38.44 and 44.64°assigned to (111) and (200) planes, respectively, besides XRD peaks of ZIF-8. 44 Nitrogen adsorption−desorption isotherms of pristine ZIF-8 and Au@ZIF-8 were investigated by BET measurements.…”

“…2C) shows a peak at 486 cm À1 which is ascribed to the vibration mode of Zr-O, while the peak at 549 cm À1 is assigned to Fe-O vibration. 44 The peaks at 737 and 862 cm À1 are related to the bending vibration of aromatic C-H of benzene ring and the peak at 1120 cm À1 is attributed to C-C bond. Additionally, the symmetric stretching band at 1390 cm À1 and the two asymmetric stretching bands at 1525 and 1691 cm À1 are corresponding to carboxyl group.…”

“…UiO-66-SO 3 H (UiO: University of Oslo) is a metal organic frameworks (MOF) isostructural with UiO-66 and can be synthesized easily via a direct solvothermal approach [18]. MOFs exhibit tunable structures, large surface areas and multifunctional properties which have attracted increasing attention in various applications such as adsorption [19], catalytic oxidation [20,21], and photocatalysis [22]. MOFs might be considered as a potential alternative to zeolites and active carbons in adsorption technologies.…”
