“…With comparable filtration efficiency, the quality factor is higher than that of a commercial filter. This investigation shows that improvement of the filtration performance is more effective by adjusting fibre diameter and filing rate than the thickness (Wu et al , 2018).…”

“…It has stable filtration performance and recyclability and can effectively isolate bacteria and viruses in the air and therefore is one of the ideal materials for new medical masks in the future. Further, PAN is electrospun with metal particles such as silver, , copper, zinc oxide, , and titanium dioxide , to achieve dual-function air filtration materials with efficient inhibition of bacteria and potent filtration efficiency. However, inorganic particles may be shed from the nanofibers, and long-term inhalation of these particles can interfere with the respiratory function. , Therefore, a safer antimicrobial material is needed to go with PAN electrospinning to obtain ideal antibacterial nanofibrous membranes for air filtration.…”

“…To improve the IAQ and protect people from its effects, three basic concentration control strategies, 6 i.e. contaminant source control, ventilation 7,8 improvement and air cleaning, are often applied. To reduce individual contaminants at the source, contaminant source control is the most effective strategy.…”
