Preparation, Characterization and Biological Evaluation of β-Lactam Derived from 6-Amino Penicillinic Acid and Salicyldehyde

Abstract: The present report is concerned with the synthesis novel Schiff base ligand by condense 6-Amino Penicillinic acid with Salicyldehyde. The ligand was characterized by 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR, mass spectrometry, UV-Vis and FT-IR studies. The ligand have got more than one moiety which are capable of chelation, therefore complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) were prepared. These complexes were characterized by UV-Vis, FT-IR, magnetic susceptibility and Molar conductivity studies. All these techniques indicate … Show more

“…For the monodentate mode of carboxylate group, the antisymmetric stretch as (COO) will increase and the symmetric stretch S (COO) will decrease as the metal-oxygen bond become stronger (more covalent character) in the complexes. The as (COO) motion of the carboxylate group in the spectrum of LR pigment is observed at 1623 cm À1 as a strong band while, the symmetric motion, S (COO) is assigned at 1405 cm À1 which is the typical behavior for a monodentate carboxylate group (Anacona and Osorio, 2008;Jasim et al, 2017;Silambarasan and Abraham, 2013). Furthermore, the separation between the asymmetric and symmetric stretch of the carboxylate group in the pigment spectrum as given in Table 2 is shown to be >200 cm À1 , which is further indication for the monodentate nature of the carboxylate group in these complexes (McAfee, 2000).…”
