Preparation at the water–oil interface of Janus composite nanoparticles and their photoelectric properties

Abstract: A series of Janus composite poly(3-hexyl thiophene)-b-poly(3-thiophenehexanethiol)-gold nanoparticles were synthesized by self-assembly at the water-oil interface, and their photoelectric performance was investigated. The results show that the precise Janus composite nanostructure could be controlled by the adjustment of the reaction temperature and stirring time. The UV-visible measurement revealed that the absorption maximum had an appreciable redshift, and the photoluminescence (PL) spectra indicated that t… Show more

“…Note that the molar masses of the PNCI#s were controlled within a narrow range of 448-461 kg mol −1 to ensure a fair comparison with the PVDF binder. [37] We intentionally targeted the high molecular weights within the controllable range to maximize cycling performance by achieving robust mechanical strength and strong adhesion properties. [37,38] As revealed by DSC, the T g values of the PNCI#s were in the range of 39-48 °C, which ensures mechanical robustness at room temperatures (Figure S7, Supporting Information).…”

“…Recently, Janus materials have attracted tremendous attention in various applications such as functional surfactants, photoelectric materials and catalytic agents due to its two distinct faces with anisotropic properties [14][15][16]. Among these Janus-type materials, the twodimensional (2D) ones with asymmetrical properties on each side are called Janus film [16].…”

“…Among the more complex inorganic structures of interest are dual-component nanoparticles that consist of two different materials displayed on opposing surface regions. These intrinsically directional particles have recently gained attention in fields ranging from biomedical to solar energy . The architecture has the distinction of spatially separating functionalities, enabling novel or enhanced performance unattainable with uniform surface chemistry.…”

“…These intrinsically directional particles have recently gained attention in fields ranging from biomedical 4 to solar energy. 5 The architecture has the distinction of spatially separating functionalities, enabling novel or enhanced performance unattainable with uniform surface chemistry. For example, these asymmetric particles can simultaneously deliver hydrophobic and hydrophilic drug therapies, 6,7 speed analyte detection via self-electrophoresis, 8 or manipulate photogenerated charge separation to enhance photocatalytic performance.…”
