Preparation and wide band emission characteristics of Eu2+/Eu3+ co-doped Ba3P4O13 phosphors

Abstract: Tunable color from blue to light bluish white region in Ba3P4O13:Eu2+, Eu3+ phosphor is realized by controlling the Eu2+/Eu3+ ratio.

“…Concentration ratio of Eu 3+ ions to Eu 3+ ions.-Eu 3+ photoemission lines due to the 5 D 0 → 7 F J transitions with J = 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 are observed in a spectral range of 580-750 nm from Ba 3 P 4 O 13 :0.08Eu (Eu 2+ , Eu 3+ ) crystal excited at 394 nm at room temperature, besides an intense broad band with peak at about 470 nm. 13 The 470 nm band reflects the Eu 2+ ion associated with host molecule. From the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) survey, the Ba 3 P 4 O 13 :0.08Eu crystal is revealed to have a coexistence ratio 2.5: 7.5 (=c BPO (Eu 2+ ): c BPO (Eu 3+ ) = 1:3), where c BPO (Eu 2+ ) means the Eu 2+ concentration in Ba 3 P 4 O 13 (called BPO).…”
