Preparation and Structure of Protonated Selenourea

Abstract: Selenourea was investigated in the binary superacidic media XF/MF 5 (X = H, D; M = As, Sb). The protonation selectively takes place at the selenium atom leading to the corresponding salts [(X 2 N) 2 CSeX] + [MF 6 ] -. The characterization of the colorless salts was performed by low temperature vibrational spectroscopy. In the case of [(H 2 N) 2 CSeH] + [SbF 6 ]a sin- [a]

“…In the case of protonated γ‐butyrolactone and γ‐butyrolactam, we found C⋅⋅⋅F contacts. Such contacts, which differ from hydrogen bonds, have only rarely been observed [24–26] . To investigate the nature of these contacts, Mapped Electrostatic Potentials (MEP) of the free cations [(CH 2 ) 3 OCOH] + and [(CH 2 ) 3 NHCOH] + were calculated.…”

[24][25][26] To investigate the nature of these contacts, Mapped Electrostatic Potentials (MEP) of the free cations [(CH 2 ) 3 OCOH] + and [(CH 2 ) 3 NHCOH] + were calculated. The cation-anion contacts together with the respective MEPs are illustrated in Figures 7 and 8.…”
