Abstract:In the last two decades, many new peptides have been developed, and new knowledge on how peptides improve the skin has been uncovered. The spectrum of peptides in the field of cosmetics is continuously growing. This review summarizes some of the effective data on cosmeceutical peptides that work against intrinsic and extrinsic aging. Some peptides have been proven in their efficacy through clinical skin trials. Well-known and documented peptides like copper tripeptide are still under research to obtain more details on their effectiveness, and for the development of new treatments. Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 and Carnosine are other well-researched cosmeceuticals. Additionally, there are many more peptides that are used in cosmetics. However, study results for some are sparse, or have not been published in scientific journals. This article summarizes topical peptides with proven efficacy in controlled in vivo studies.

Kozmetikler ve in silico yaklaşımlarGelişen teknolojilerle birlikte moleküler modelleme teknikleri kullanılarak kozmetik preparatlarda yer alan aktif maddelerin akılcı yöntemlerle keşfi mümkün olmaktadır. Kemoinformatik yöntemlerin kullanılması kozmetik aktif moleküller ya da gruplar hakkında bilgi edinilmesini sağlamaktadır. Bu yöntemlerle formülasyon tasarımında rol oynayan tüm fizikokimyasal özellikler daha iyi irdelenmekte ve karşılaştırmalı toksisite gibi çalışmalarla da daha kısa sürede sonuca ulaşılabilmektedir. Bu doğrultuda hayvan modellerine gereksinim duyulmadan kozmetik aktif maddelerin insanlarda etkinliklerini ve toksik etkilerini belirleyerek emniyetli kullanımlarını sağlamak amacıyla bilgisayar programları geliştirilmiştir. Bu derlemede bilimsel makalelerde yer alan bilinen bazı kozmetik amaçlı moleküllerin etkileri, etki mekanizmaları ve akılcı yöntemlerle tasarlanmaları hakkında bilgi verilerek moleküler modellemenin kozmetik inovasyonundaki önemi açıklanmıştır. Anahtar sözcükler: Kozmetikler, aktif madde, risk değerlendirmesi, güvenlik, bilgisayarla tasarım, moleküler modelleme ABS TRACT Cosmetics and in silico approachesEmerging technologies with molecular modelling techniques give opportunity to discover the active ingredients in cosmetics by using rational methods. Using chemoinformatic methods provides information about the acquisition of cosmetic active molecules or groups. With these methods, the physicochemical properties, which are involved in the formulation design are better evaluated and the results can be obtained in a short time with comparative toxicity studies. Accordingly some computer programs, without any need to animal models have been developed for testing cosmetic active agents to investigate their efficacy and toxic effects in humans and provide their safe use. In this review, some well-known cosmetic active molecules from scientific articles, their effects, molecular mechanisms and rational design methods are given to describe the importance of molecular modelling in cosmetic innovations.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop anti-ageing poly-herbal face cream by mixing the ethanol extract of C. sativum and rose hip oil in order to produce multipurpose effects on the skin such as fairness, softening and antiseptic effects. Methods:Ageing of the skin is the result of continuous "wear and tear" processes. Chronological skin aging is a universal and inevitable process, while in contrast, photoaging results from the UV rays of sunlight, and the damage becomes apparent in sun-exposed skin. Cream is defined as semisolid emulsions which may be oil-in-water (o/w) or water-in-oil (w/o) type and these semisolid emulsions are meant for external applications. In this study creams (o/w type) were formulated based on the anti-oxidant potential of herbal extracts and its evaluation. Coriandrum sativum plant extracted by using soxhlet method with water as solvent. The creams were formulated with coriander oil, rose hip oil with different concentrations namely F1 to F6. Results:The creams were to be stable during stability studies accordingly ICH guideline for 2 mo. Coriandrum sativum extract showed significant anti-oxidant activity with an IC50 value is 34.25 μg/ml, while for ascorbic acid the IC50 value was 46.68μg/ml. Conclusion:It can be concluded that herbal creams without side effects having antioxidant property can be used as provision of a barrier to protect the skin and avoid aging of the skin.
