Preparation and Properties of Form-Stable Phase Change Materials Polyacrylonitrile Fiber / Stearic Acid Blends

Abstract: With stearic acid (SA) as phase change material, waste polyacrylonitrile fiber (PAN) as framework material, N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) as solvent, form-stable PAN/SA blends phase change materials (PCM) are prepared by solution blending process. Phase change temperature and latent heat and the thermal stability of the PAN/SA PCM are characterized using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The structure, crystalline morphology, and thermal insulation properties of the PAN/SA PCMs are investigated using Four… Show more

“…It has attracted more and more researchers to explore the PAN as PCM packaging material in recent years [25][26][27][28]. Here, we prepare a novel cross-linked network structure of acrylonitrile copolymer P(AN-co-IA) with itaconic acid (IA) as comonomer.…”

“…EMA exhibits a melting (T m ) and crystallization (T c ) peak at 100.0 and 86.2°C, respectively, which is originated from polyethylene components. For C n H 2n þ 1 OH (n ¼14, 16,18,26), T m , T c and heat enthalpy (ΔH m ) exhibit a linear-increment tendency with the side-chain length (Fig.3, right). When n changes from 14 to 26, they increase from 44.9 to 79.8°C, 33.3 to 71.0°C and 225.3 to 252.3 J/g.…”

“…The EMA-g-C n H 2n þ 1 OH CLPPCMs are prepared through the esterification reactions between EMA and n-alkyl alcohol (C n H 2n þ 1 OH, n ¼14, 16,18,26). Firstly, EMA and C n H 2n þ 1 OH were dissolved into toluene, and then 5 wt% PTSA was added.…”
