Preparation and properties of a novel polytriazole resin

Abstract: A novel polytriazole resin prepared from pxylylene diazide (XDA) and N,N,N 0 ,N 0 -tetrapropargyl-p,p 0 -diaminodiphenylmethane (TPDDM) was synthesized and characterized. The resin is soluble in common solvents like acetone. The results show that the polytriazole resin can be cured at 708C. The glass transition temperature and thermal decomposition temperature of the cured resin are 218 and 3508C, respectively. The tensile and flexural strengths of the cured resin achieve 99.0 and 200 MPa, respectively. It is p… Show more

“…[17,18] Our laboratory has been engaged in developing novel polytriazole (PTA) resins with low temperature curing and high heat-resistance ten years ago. [19][20][21][22] Some of the resins could be used as a matrix of high performance composites. The cured PTA resin had good heat resistance and high mechanical properties.…”

“…[19,20] As shown in Table 4, curing degrees change with the curing temperature and time. The curing degrees based on the peak at 3290 cm À1 correspond with those on the peak at 2110 cm À1 , even though there exists slight difference.…”

“…[19][20][21][22][23][24] A new kind of thermosetting resin with terminal propargyl groups has recently been developed as a high-performance polymer owing to its good processability, advantageous dielectric and mechanical properties and excellent thermal stability, whether in air or in a nitrogen atmosphere. [25][26][27][28][29][30] This paper presents new modified BMI resins prepared from BMI, HSQ and dipropargyl aryl ethers. We investigated the processability, mechanical properties and heat resistance of the resins and their composites.…”

“…[9][10][11][12][13] Recently, our laboratory has reported the preparation and properties of a new kind of thermosetting polytriazole resins, which can be cured at temperature lower than 808C and exhibit good mechanical and thermal properties.
