Preparation and Characterizations of C60/Polystyrene Composite Particle Containing Pristine C60Clusters

Abstract: Fullerene/polystyrene (C 60 /PS) nano particle was prepared by using emulsion polymerization. Styrene and fullerene were emulsified in aqueous media in the presence of poly(N-vinyl pyridine) as an emulsion stabilizer, and polymerization was initiated by water soluble radical initiator, potassium persulfate. The obtained nano particles have an average diameter in the range of 400-500 nm. The fullerene contents in the nano particle can be controlled up to 15 wt % by varying the feed ratio, which was confirmed by… Show more

“…This type of diffraction pattern is characteristic for the PS-DVB resin. 28 Similar to MR, almost identical diffraction patterns were observed in MR-C, MR-SB and MR-SB-Mo. This type of broad peak indicates that the developed catalyst and its precursors, i.e.…”

“…FTIR spectra of the MAPLE mixed layers containing PCBB also revealed peaks situated around 1180 cm −1 and 1430 cm −1 ( Figure 6 a,c), associated with the vibrations of the fullerene molecules [ 71 , 72 ]. This means that, during the MAPLE deposition, fullerene did not suffer any chemical degradation.…”

“…The structure and morphologies of the nano particles were examined by various analytical techniques. 46 C 60 -polyaniline nanocomposites have been synthesised by the oxidative polymerisation of aniline with ammonium peroxydisulfate in the presence of C 60 by using an interfacial reaction. 47 Branched copolymers containing covalently bonded C 60 were synthesised by cross-linking radical copolymerisation of N-vinylpyrrolidone with triethylene glycol dimethacrylate in toluene saturated with C 60 .…”
