PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF TiO2-ZEOLITE AND ITS APPLICATION TO DEGRADE TEXTILLE WASTEWATER BY PHOTOCATALYTIC METHOD

Abstract: The preparation of titanium oxide-zeolite composite (TiO2-zeolite) has been done. Preparation was initiated by dispersing oligocation of titanium solution into suspension of natural zeolite. The suspension was stirred and then filtered to separate the solid phase from the filtrate. The solid phase was heated by microwave oven to convert the oligocations into its oxide forms and the resulting material (called as TiO2-zeolite) then was used to photodegrade the wastewater of PT.Jogjatex The TiO2-zeolite and unmod… Show more

“…Several ways for conventional textile wastewater treatment have been developed, such as chlorination, ozonation, and biodegradation. However, those methods still have several disadvantages, including high operational costs and relatively difficult to execute [3]. Therefore, one alternative for processing textile waste is to use the photocatalytic principle using a photocatalyst [4].…”

“…Karakteristik ini diperkuat dengan munculnya serapan pada bilangan gelombang 1650-1600 cm -1 yang merupakan vibrasi dari O-H tekuk dari molekul H2O (Utubira et al, 2006). Pada spektra FTIR juga memunculkan serapan pada bilangan gelombang 800-650 cm -1 yang menunjukkan adanya vibrasi ulur simetri O-Si-O dan O-Al-O pada zeolit (Zahro, 2015).…”

“…In particular, the membrane-modified zeolite was strengthened with an absorption peak at 1635.36 cm −1 , which is attributed to O−H bending from H 2 O deformation. In addition, the absorption peak at approximately 3000-2800 cm −1 reflects the presence of an aliphatic C−H group due to the vibration of C−H stretching [35]. These functional groups presumably come from the impurities of organic compounds entrapped in the zeolite frame- work or are derived from solvent and hydrocarbon compounds in the membrane.…”
