Preparation and Characterization of the Adducts of Bis(N,N-diethyldithiocarbamato)oxovanadium(IV) and Copper(II) with n-Propylamine and Isopropylamine

Abstract: Two new 1:1 adducts of VO(dedtc) 2 , two 1:1 and two 1:2 adducts of Cu(dedtc) 2 (where dedtc = diethyldithiocarbamate) with n-propylamine and isopropylamine have been prepared. The resulting complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, IR and UV-Vis spectral and TGA/DTA techniques. Analytical data reveals that VO(IV) complex forms only 1:1 adducts with the formula [VO(dedtc) 2 L] while Cu(II) complex forms both 1:1 and 1:2 adducts with 1:1 adducts having … Show more

“…A number of dithiocarbamate adducts have been reported in literature [ 4 , 12 18 ] with various geometries such as square planar [ 19 ], octahedral [ 20 , 21 ] and trigonal prismatic [ 22 ]. Interestingly, their pyridine [ 1 , 12 , 13 ], 2,2′-bipyridine [ 13 , 15 ] triphenylphosphine [ 10 ], and 1,10-phenanthroline [ 1 , 15 ] adducts have been reported to possess antifungal properties. Some show activities against broad spectrum and are more active compared to their parent metal complexes and uncomplexed ligand [ 10 ].…”

“…Adducts are compounds with higher coordination numbers due to the addition of one or two Lewis bases molecules or polymerization of divalent metal dithiocarbamate complexes [33]. Lewis bases with bidentate N, N-donor bases, such as 2, 2′-bipyridine, 1, 10-phenanthroline, pyridine, methyl pyridine, and triphenylphosphine had been reported [3745].…”

“…We noticed all complexes show a single peak at the range (991-1030) cm -1 [19,20] ,that is mean the ligand is bidentate through two sulfur atoms. The bands at (418-475) cm -1 could be attributed to υ (M-OH2) [21] .…”
