Preparation and characterization of proton conducting polymer blend electrolytes (PVC/PMMA/NH4SCN)

Abstract: In the current study, proton conducting polymer blend electrolytes have been prepared with poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), Ammonium thiocyanate (NH 4 SCN) salt and Tetrahydrofuran (THF) as solvent through solution-casting method. The complexation of these films have been studied by FTIR spectroscopy. The increase in amorphousness of the films with the increase in NH 4 SCN content has been confirmed by XRD analysis. The effect of salt concentration and the ionic conductivity of th… Show more

“…16 The band at 1428 cm À1 describes the asymmetric bending vibration of the methyl group (CH 3 ) in PMMA 37 besides CH 2 wagging in PVC. 16 The band at 2971 cm À1 describes the C H stretching vibration mode, 1,36 which increases to 2975 cm À1 after loading 4 wt.% PbO while the band at 2916 cm À1 arises from the asymmetric stretching of C H of CH 2. 1 The changes in blending PVC with PMMA (compared to pure PVC and PMMA) were due to the interactions between PVC and PMMA such as H bonding in addition to the dipole-dipole interactions.…”
