Preparation and characterization of Jatropha oil-based Polyurethane as non-aqueous solid polymer electrolyte for electrochemical devices

Abstract: Jatropha-oil based polyurethane is one of the initiative for replacing conventional petroleum based polyurethane. The vegetable oil-based polyurethane is more cost-effective and synthesize from renewable resources. Polyurethane was synthesized through prepolymerization method between jatropha oil-based polyol and diphenylmethane 4, 4'diisocyanate, (MDI) in inert condition. Then, lithium perchloride ion (LiClO 4) was added to the polyurethane system to form electrolyte film via solution casting technique. The p… Show more

“…We have also proven the much lower ionic conductivity of the ANF (i.e., PPTA)-LiTFSI electrolyte (9.2×10 −8 S cm −1 at 30°C, Fig. S7), consistent with other reports on the rigid amidebenzene backbone-based polymer electrolytes [76][77][78].…”

“…From thermogram, five different weight loss were identified and the values are listed in Table-1. The comparative studies of PU-1 to PU-3 hard segment relatively increases, depending on diisocyanate linkage between polyol [5]. This is due to the intermolecular attraction between amine and carbonyl groups of the polymeric chain in it.…”

“…For the polymer electrolyte purpose, palm oil, jatropha oil, and castor oil have been used as the raw material to prepare polyurethane (PU). Figure 14 shows the reaction of a vegetable oil-based polyol with the isocyanate group to produce polyurethane [50]. PU with lithium iodide (LiI) and sodium iodide (NaI) salt from 0-40 wt% salt concentration.…”
