Preparation and Characterization of Functionalized Cellulose Nanomaterials (CNMs) for Pb(II) Ions Removal from Wastewater

Abstract: Due to their remarkable properties, cellulose nanomaterials are emerging materials for wastewater (WW) treatment. In this study, both pristine cellulose nanomaterial (CNM) and sodium periodate modified cellulose nanomaterial (NaIO4-CNM) were prepared from the stem of the Erythrina brucei plant for the removal of Pb(II) ions from WW. As-prepared CNMs were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis with differen… Show more

“…In this study the effect of different parameter data was used to check the adsorption mechanism of Pb (II) onto modified cellulose from Artocarpus heterophyllus as shown on Figure 2. The result obtained from experimental data is in line with the finding of Kurniawan et al [29] , Jamshaid et al [30] and Tsade et al [31] .…”

“…Te best adsorption kinetic of CNCS-g-P (AA/AM) describes Pb(II) ions removal ftted to pseudo-second order [222,245]. Tsade et al [230] synthesized pristine cellulose nanomaterial and sodium periodate modifed cellulose nanomaterial (NaIO 4 -CNM) from the Erythrina brucei plant. Based on the value of R 2 , the isotherm models of Langmuir and Freundlich were the best ftting for Pb(II) adsorption.…”

“…Because of this, eliminating cationic MB dye from wastewater before its harm has become very essential aspect. For an increased period of time, several methods are situated for the elimination of toxic pollutants including adsorption, coagulation, precipitation, ltration, solvent extraction, reverse osmosis, and ion exchange [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26].…”
