Preparation and acoustic properties of a tung oleic acid‐based polyurethane foam and its stratified structure

Abstract: Bio-based polyurethane foam, a new green environmental material, has attracted more and more attention of people. In this study, the tung oleic acid-based polyurethane (TOPUF) had been prepared using one-step method. Characterization of the polyurethane foams were carried out by SEM and Fourier transform infrared. The cell morphology, acoustic, and mechanical performance of TOPUF with different contents of tung oleic acid-based polyols (TOAP) were studied and compared with that of a pure petroleum-based polyur… Show more

“…Noise from various surroundings, such as home appliances, automobiles, and industrial plants, is a serious source of pollution and has a profound impact on the quality of life of human. Specifically, noise causes serious health problems, such as discomfort and stress, high blood pressure, headaches, sleep disorders, and heart problems. There is an increasing need for research to develop effective sound-absorbing materials to reduce damage caused by noise . In addition, excellent heat-transfer performance is essential to prevent machine failure due to heat shielding caused by the use of sound-absorbing materials of the device. Therefore, it is very important to study the development of structures that can smoothly dissipate heat generated from machines, while blocking the frequency of noise.…”

“…Zhang and Chen 23 prepared palm‐oil‐based PUF and analyzed the effect of palm oil polyol content on the microscopic morphology and acoustic and mechanical properties of flexible PU. Ji and Chen 24 prepared double‐layer composite PUFs using tung‐oil‐based polyol instead of polyether polyol and analyzed the effect of layer thickness ratio on acoustic properties by theoretical modeling.…”
