Preoperative Diagnosis of Pyoadenomyosis With 67Ga SPECT/CT

Abstract: Abscess formation inside adenomyosis rarely occurred. A 49-year-old woman had adenomyosis for several years with the symptoms of menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea. She presented with fever of unknown etiology for 3 weeks. 67Ga SPECT/CT demonstrated increased tracer accumulation inside the uterus, which was confirmed as pyoadenomyosis after hysterectomy, and her fever subsided dramatically thereafter. For women with adenomyosis and fever of unknown origin, pyoadenomyosis is a rare but possible cause. 67Ga SPECT/CT i… Show more

“…Furthermore, the aforementioned study that focused on the delineation of endometriosis with [ 68 Ga]Ga-DOTA-TATE also found that adenomyosis lesions exhibited increased accretion of the radiolabeled peptide as well (18). Finally, a single case report by Wu et al from 2014 described the visualization of pyoadenomyosis-a rare complication of adenomyosis-via SPECT with [ 67 Ga]Ga 31 (27). In sum, the data clearly underscore that the stage is set for new work in this area, particularly the development of dedicated probes specific for adenomyosis.…”

In sum, the data clearly underscore that the stage is set for new work in this area, particularly the development of dedicated probes specific for adenomyosis.…”
