Preoperative Anti-Class III β-Tubulin Antibodies As Relevant Clinical Biomarkers in Ovarian Cancer

Abstract: Class III β-tubulin (TUBB3) overexpression in ovarian cancer (OC) associates with poor prognosis. We investigated whether TUBB3 overexpression elicited anti-TUBB3 antibody production in OC patients and whether these antibodies may have diagnostic and prognostic impact. The presence of serum anti-TUBB3 antibodies was investigated in 49 untreated OC patients and 44 healthy individuals by an in-house developed ELISA that used recombinant TUBB3 as the antigen. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were ge… Show more

“…1). For example, βIII-tubulin overexpression has been associated with a poor response to MTAs as well as a shorter overall and progression-free survival in lung (35)(36)(37)(38), ovarian (39)(40)(41)(42), breast (43), prostate (44), urothelial/bladder (45,46), gastric (47,48), and rectal cancers (49), as well as esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (50), pancreatic ductal carcinoma (51), and thymic carcinoma (52) (Fig. 1).…”
