“…The benzofuran tremetone (2,3‐dihydro‐2‐isopropenyl‐5‐benzofuranyl methyl ketone) (), a putative vascular plant marker, was identified in all of the modern ice core samples. It has been identified in extracts from rayless goldenrod [ Zalkow et al , 1979] and an Argentinean plant of the Asteraceae family [ Uriburu et al , 2007], and has also been found in Brazilian propolis, which is a constituent of honeybee hives originating from local vegetation [ Banskota et al , 1998]. This compound was observed in samples from all five sites (Figure 1), but occurred in the greatest abundances in the Sajama samples and was not detected in any blanks ().…”

“…A. integer leaves and stem bark were dried and extracted using EtOH. These crude extracts were fractioned and purified using chromatographic techniques to furnish kuwanon R ( 1 ), [17] kuwanon J ( 2 ), [18] deoxyartonin I ( 3 ), [19] artocarmitins A ( 4 ), [20] isogemichalcone B ( 5 ), [21] sanjuanolide ( 6 ), [22] morachalcone A ( 7 ), [23] bavachromanol ( 8 ), [24] 5,7,4 ′ ‐trihydroxy‐6‐[40‐methylbut‐30‐enyl]‐flavone ( 9 ), [25] dinklagin C ( 10 ), [25] apigenin ( 11 ), [26] quercetin ( 12 ), [27] (2 S )‐8‐(3′′‐methylbut‐2′′‐enyl)‐7,3′,4′‐trihydroxyflavanone ( 13 ), [28] (−)‐epiafzelechin ( 14 ), [29] cis‐ 3,4′‐dihydroxy‐5,7‐dimethoxyflavan ( 15 ), [30] 4‐(3′,4′‐dihydroxyphenyl)butan‐2‐one ( 16 ), [31] (+)‐catechin ( 17 ), [32] and indole ( 18 ) [33] . These were identified by comparing their NMR spectra with published data ( Figure 1).…”
