PRELIMINARY SYSTEM DESIGN DESCRIPTION OF THE EBR-II FAILED-FUEL TRANSFER SYSTEM. EBR-II Project.

Abstract: The failed-fuel transfer system provides additional capability to remove subassemblies, which contain failed fuel, from the primary tank in the reactor building to the argon cell of the Fuel Cycle Facility (FCF). The major parts of the system are: a dipper, with associated components; and a sealed container, with a radiation shield. The dipper retrieves the subassembly from the transfer arm and acts as a temporary storage facility by keeping the subassembly inside the primary tank without impeding standard fue… Show more
