PRELIMINARY STUDYON THE CONTROL OF WESTERN FLOWER THRIPS, Frankliniella occidentalis (PERGANDE)IN PEPPER CROP GREEN HOUSES IN QALYUBIA GOVERNORATE, EGYPT.

Abstract: Rotation of three compounds and in combination of additional control method(i.e., blue sticky traps)were conducted under greenhouse pepper conditionsduring 2013 and 2014 seasons at Kaha region, Qalyubia Governorate to get successful results in Frankliniella occidentalis Pergande (WFT)control and reduce damage to pepper flowers. Two greenhouse G2 and G3 were treated at weekly intervals with three compounds (i.e., Sumithion 50% ECat 250 cm 3 /100L; Radiant 12% SC at 25 cm 3 /100L and mixture of two plant extract… Show more

“…The combined effect (E.V) of these weather factors on P. solenopsis individuals showed that these factors were responsible as a group for 92 % and 99 % effects on the population density of P. solenopsis individual throughout two seasons, respectively. These results were in line with those obtained by (Hoddle et al2002, Stansly et al, 2004, Baiomy, 2008, Zepa-Coradini et al 2010, Sampson et al2012, Hanafy et al 2014and Shalaby 2014…”

“…Atakan (2011) in Turkey stated that the population density of F. occidentalis reached to peaks during mid or late May in strawberry flowers. Shalaby (2015) in Egypt mentioned that F. occidentalis started to appear in the pepper leaves during the second half of Mayearly June and reached to peaks during the second half and late June, while, the infestation trend of that pest in pepper flowers showed low level during the second half of June and reached two peaks during mid-August in both 2013 and 2014 seasons.…”

“…In Egypt, Shalaby (2015) studied the population fluctuation of F. occidentalis on pepper flowers in a greenhouse, while Hanafy (2015) studied its host preference and control techniques on cucumber, squash, eggplant, and kidney bean crops. He indicated that acetamiprid and thiamethoxam gave a high reduction in F. occidentalis population on cucumber.…”
