Preliminary study of phytochemical constituents and antimicrobial activity of two varieties of Cashew Apple grown in Nigeria

Abstract: Aims: The specific aim of this study was to investigate the phytochemical constituents and antimicrobial activities of cashew apple (Anacardium occidentale) grown in Nigeria. Methodology and results: The cashew apples (red and yellow) were plucked directly from parent tree, sliced and drained in a press. Thereafter, it was dried, grounded and extracted using solvent percolation. The extracts were screened for the presence of phytochemicals and antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus su… Show more

“…Moreover, RT-PCR approch was utilized to quantify SRB crude oil and produced water and their apsA gene expression. [29] This method used RT-PCR with SYBR Green detection to detect SRB and apsA gene expression. The crude oil sample showed less SRB papulation (2.86 μg/ml) and apsA gene expression (Ct value: 7.48) in comparison with produced water sample having SRB papulation (1.27 × 10 6 μg/ml) and gene expression (Ct value: 6.77) respectively.…”
