Background/Aim: Knowledge about triage has been identified as one of the factors influencing patient outcomes in the emergency room. Nurses' knowledge regarding triage is necessary in order to work effectively in managing patients, as swift and accurate actions depend on the nurses' acquired knowledge. The aim of this research was to determine the correlation between nurses' knowledge of triage and the accuracy of triage-level interpretation. Methods: The data from 145 nurses were collected by using a questionnaire sheet for the triage knowledge variable and an observation sheet for the variable of accuracy in triage level interpretation. This research was conducted in May-June 2023 at Tugurejo Regional General Hospital, KRMT Wongsonegoro Regional General Hospital and Dr Kariadi General Hospital. The independent variable in this study was nurses' knowledge and the dependent variable was the accuracy of triage level interpretation. The statistical analysis included descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test for comparison between groups. Results: Based on the results of the bivariate analysis, nurses' knowledge has a correlation with the accuracy of triage-level interpretation with a p-value of < 0.001. Conclusion: There is a correlation between nurses' knowledge of triage and the accuracy of triage-level interpretation.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of simulation training in enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of emergency medical service (EMS) specialists. With the evolving landscape of healthcare, the demand for proficient professionals capable of managing medical emergencies has grown significantly. Universities are embracing innovative training methods, including simulation technologies, to prepare students effectively for these crucial roles. The study was conducted in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, involving 120 university students in their 5th and 6th years of study. The paper sheds light on the positive effect of various types of simulation training on the level of training of emergency medical service specialists. The authors seek to demonstrate the necessity and efficiency of innovative technology in practicing practical and communication skills. Various forms of simulation training (medical team lessons, joint drills, masterclasses) are a highly efficient system of practical training for students. The results of the empirical study lead to the conclusion that various forms of simulation training (medical team lessons, joint drills, masterclasses) present a highly efficient system of practical training for students and enable students to improve their practical emergency medical care skills. Medical team classes are a priority form for practicing the algorithm of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Joint drills are used to practice organizational and practical skills in coordinating the actions of various services in emergencies. Masterclasses should be used as an element of practical training with large audiences.

Zusammenfassung Hintergrund Bei Massenanfällen von Verletzten (MANV) besteht oft ein Missverhältnis zwischen dem Behandlungsbedarf und den verfügbaren Ressourcen. Verschiedene Sichtungssysteme werden präklinisch verwendet, darunter der „tactical Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment“(tacSTART)-Algorithmus, der speziell für Bedrohungslagen entwickelt wurde. Ziel der Arbeit Die Studie untersuchte, ob der tacSTART-Algorithmus von zivilen und militärischen Rettungskräften ohne vorherige Erfahrung mit Sichtungsalgorithmen wirksam genutzt werden kann. Das Weltwirtschaftsforum (WEF) 2020 bot ein optimales Umfeld für diese Untersuchung. Material und Methoden Die Studie wurde während des WEF in Davos durchgeführt und umfasste nichtärztliches und ärztliches Personal von zivilen und militärischen Rettungsdiensten. Die Teilnehmenden erhielten eine Einführung in den tacSTART-Algorithmus und führten insgesamt 2000 Vorsichtungen an Schauspielpatientinnen und -patienten sowie Patientenkarten durch. Ein Online-Fragebogen diente zur Datenerfassung, welche statistisch ausgewertet wurde. Ergebnisse Die Studienergebnisse zeigten, dass der tacSTART-Algorithmus eine hohe Übereinstimmung mit der wahren Vorsichtung erzielte (91,7 %). Es gab keine signifikanten Unterschiede zwischen zivilen und militärischen Rettungskräften. Die Selbsteinschätzung der Teilnehmenden und die Bewertung des Algorithmus waren positiv. Diskussion Die Studienergebnisse unterstützen die Effektivität des tacSTART-Algorithmus als Instrument zur Vorsichtung in MANV-Szenarien. Die Ergebnisse betonen seine Anwendbarkeit für verschiedene Fachkräftegruppen. Die Studie trägt dazu bei, das Verständnis für Sichtungsalgorithmen in Großschadenslagen zu erweitern und die Patientenversorgung zu verbessern. Graphic abstract
