Bien que l’histoire des parcs naturels soit souvent marquée par
une opposition d’intérêts entre institutions de gestion et populations locales,
l’intensité des conflits varie selon les époques et les territoires. Cet article
s’intéresse à la manière dont les populations locales, les professionnels des
sports de nature et les agents d’un parc – le Parco naturale Alpi Marittime
situé dans les Alpes du Sud de l’Italie – appréhendent la présence de ce
territoire naturel protégé. Au moyen d’une étude de documents et d’entretiens,
nous analysons les relations entre ces groupes d’acteurs ainsi que leurs
représentations du parc. Les résultats suggèrent que l’origine endogène du
projet de l’aire protégée permet le développement de représentations positives
vis-à-vis du parc, qui se pose en tant qu’acteur clé du développement
socioéconomique local grâce à la diffusion des sports de nature.
