Preequilibrium (p,p’) measurements and calculations forZr90and neighboring nuclei for incident energies up to 200 MeV

Abstract: Double-differential cross sections have been measured for inclusive (p, p') reactions on targets of Y, Zr, and the even-mass Mo isotopes from A = 92 to 98 at incident proton energies of 120, 160, and 200 MeV. Comparisons are made with calculations based on the statistical multistep direct theory of Feshbach, Kerman, and Koonin. In general it is found that the theory gives a good description of the angular distributions. Possible explanations for the deviation of the predicted cross sections from experiment at … Show more

“…[5,14]. These cross section distributions were extracted by means of a FKK multistep direct reaction theory, which reproduces experimental inclusive (p, p ′ ) quantities [5] on target nuclei which are close to those needed for this work, and in an appropriate incident energy range. Interpolations and extrapolations in incident energy and target mass were introduced to match the specific requirements accurately.…”

“…Of the available models, the statistical multistep direct emission (SMDE) theory of Feshbach, Kerman and Koonin (FKK) [3] has been extensively and successfully compared with experimental results over a large target mass and incident energy range [1,[4][5][6][7].…”

“…The value of the effective interaction strength at this energy is less than the values found at lower energies previously discussed, indicating that it decreases with increasing incident energy.
