Predominant B‐Lymphocyte Deficiency in a Case with Lymph Node Disease Resembling Angioimmunoblastic Lymphadenopathy

Abstract

A case with clinical and histological features resembling angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy, but with a very marked decrease in Blymphocytes instead of T-lymphocytes is presented. Key \cwrdst angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy, lymphocyte-B deficiency. Acta Med Scand 208: 237. 1980. Immunoblastic lymphadenopathy w a s described in 1973 by Lukes and Tindle ( 5 ) and angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy in 1974 by Frizzera e t al.(2). T h e terms may cover a spectrum of abnormal immune reactions. Very little is known about the etiology. Graft-versus-host reaction, autoimmunity, hyperimmune B-lymphocyte proliferation, and reactions versus virus, liver extracts, antiepileptics, penicillin and sulfonamides have been discussed.
