Predictors of Residual T1 High Grade on Re-Transurethral Resection in a Large Multi-Institutional Cohort of Patients with Primary T1 High-Grade/Grade 3 Bladder Cancer

Abstract: The aim of this multi-institutional study was to identify predictors of residual high-grade (HG) disease at re-transurethral resection (reTUR) in a large cohort of primary T1 HG/Grade 3 (G3) bladder cancer patients.A total of 1155 patients with primary T1 HG/G3 bladder cancer from 13 academic institutions that underwent a reTUR within 6 weeks after first TUR were evaluated. Logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the association of predictive factors with residual HG at reTUR.Residual HG cancer wa… Show more

“…Ferro et al [19] demonstrated that NLR was a predictor of residual HG disease at re-TURB at univariate but not at multivariate analysis. Racioppi et al [20] reported that higher preoperative NLR could be predictive of poor BCG response in multivariate analysis.…”

“…Our results are consistent with previous research. Ferro et al found that tumor size and the presence of carcinoma in situ are independent predictors to identify patients at risk of residual T1 high-grade bladder cancer after a complete TUR ( 34 ). This suggests that the combination of pathological features and inflammatory status is a good predictor of LN metastasis in patients with T1 high-grade urothelial carcinoma ( 12 ).…”

“…HG-NMIBC (Ta and T1 with high-grade/G3) was considered to have a strong correlation with recurrence. 18 After studying our data, we found that the NLR change in HG-NMIBC patients could significantly predict the recurrence status ( Figure 5 , Table 5 ). However, in LG-NMIBC patients with recurrence, there was no significant change in postoperative NLR.…”
