“…At our institution, laparoscopic gastric banding (LAGB) was used since 1996 as a purely restrictive procedure in over 400 patients. However, 5 years after primary gastric banding (follow-up rate of 98%), 39% of the patients had lost their bands or, with the band in situ, had an insufficient result according to the Bariatric Analysis and Reporting Outcome System score [3][4][5].
