“…This may be due to the fact that alcohol can reduce an individual's perception of the risk of HIV transmission and impair thinking and decision-making abilities about safe sex, due to alcohol's constrained effect on cognitive capacity, causing someone to focus only on motivating their immediate senses. Thus, alcohol intake puts HIV patients at risk for having unstable partners [18,19] and for engaging in sexual activity without taking any HIV prevention measures [5].
