Predictors of COVID-19 Hospital Treatment Outcome

Abstract: Background There are more than 228,394,572 confirmed cases and 4,690,186 confirmed deaths caused by COVID-19 worldwide. The magnitude of the COOVID-19 pandemic has stimulated research on the treatment and diagnosis of COVID-19 patients. Objective In this report, a battery of specific parameters was used to develop a model that allows prediction of the outcome of the COVID-19 treatment. These parameters are C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, fibrinogen, D-dimers, immatur… Show more

“…The extracted probabilistic relationships inform evidence-based knowledge on the course of COVID-19 pneumonia with inpatient treatment. Some of these relationships matched with the results of other researchers [ 38 , 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 ]. However, other extracted results are new, such as the influence of monocytes from the third time interval (10–17 days) to lethality.…”

“…This model is reported to have shown the sensitivity of psychological therapy and certain sociodemographic factors as predictors of mental health [ 23 , 24 ]. One study on the Bayesian model explored the capacity of several parameters of laboratory tests (e.g., C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, and fibrinogen) to predict the effect of drug treatments on the recovery of patients with COVID-19 [ 25 ]. Furthermore, the model has been employed to examine the distribution of dengue transmission [ 26 ].…”
