Predictores de las prácticas de consumo sostenible en los estudiantes universitarios de la Amazonía peruana

Abstract

In a world where environmental preservation is an increasingly relevant issue, sustainable consumption practices emerge as a fundamental approach to address environmental and social challenges. The purpose was to determine if environmental concern and environmental awareness significantly predict the sustainable consumption practices of university students in the Madre de Dios -Peru region. A quantitative approach was adopted, the design was non-experimental, while the type was predictive. 810 students participated and answered three questionnaires referring to sustainable consumption practices, environmental concern and environmental awareness, all of them with adequate metric properties. According to the results, the multiple regression analysis demonstrated an adequate fit for the model (F=18.694; p<0.05), where environmental concern (β=0.426; p<0.05) and environmental awareness (β=0.389; p< 0.05), explained 29.5% of the total variance of sustainable consumption practices. It is concluded that environmental concern and environmental awareness significantly predict the sustainable consumption practices of university students in the Madre de Dios region, located in the Amazon of Peru.
