Predictive value of platelet aggregation rate in postpartum deep venous thrombosis and its possible mechanism

Abstract: The present study investigated the predictive value of the platelet aggregation rate in postpartum deep venous thrombosis and its possible mechanism. From January 2014 to January 2016, 23 patients with postpartum deep vein thrombosis of lower extremity treated in the Department of Obstetrics of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital were as assigned as the observation group. At the same time, 25 cases with normal recovery were assigned as the control group. Blood samples were collected from all the subjects. The platelet a… Show more

“…Due to the physiological hypercoagulability postpartum, [ 6 , 7 ] in order to achieve the target ACT value, we used a relatively large initial dose of heparin (approximately 12 U/kg). The ACT increased to 170 s, resulting in bleeding at multiple puncture points, which made it difficult to achieve hemostasis during the surgery.…”

“…Due to the importance of GPIIb/IIIa platelet receptors in hemostasis, it is critical to investigate the effects of exposure of this glycoprotein while a CVC remains in the vein. P‐selectin is not expressed by platelets at rest in the circulation but is abundantly expressed by activated platelets located in the thrombus, as reported in several studies focusing on platelet activation . Consequently, the investigation of platelet activation and its reflexes in the activation of hemostasis as a whole deserve further study.…”

“…A thrombus or blood clot can form in a vein, artery, heart, or microcirculation and cause complications by causing obstruction or embolism. 10 , 11 A thrombus is an abnormal clot in a vessel with or without leakage. Thrombus is divided into three types, red thrombus (coagulation thrombus), white thrombus (agglutination thrombus), and mixed thrombus.…”

“…In the final stage there is a process of formation of a platelet plug that involves fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor called platelet aggregation. 9 , 10 Light transmission aggregometry is a method used to examine platelet aggregation. This method is the gold standard for examining platelet function.…”
