Predictive Value of C-Reactive Protein to Albumin Ratio in ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients Treated With Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Abstract: The present study aimed to examine the association of C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR) with short-term major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). We included 539 STEMI patient treated with pPCI in this study. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to MACE development. Patients with MACE had higher CAR than those without (1.18 [0.29-1.99] vs 0.21 [0.09-0.49], P < .001). Multi… Show more

“…34 Acet et al found that the combination of CAR and The Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events score was an independent predictor of short-term major adverse cardiac events in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI. 35 Native vessel diameter, grafted vessel, age of graft, gender, smoking, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus are several predisposing factors for SVGD. Three separate process: thrombosis, intimal hyperplasia, and atherosclerosis may be involved in the pathogenesis of SVGD.…”

“…23 Several studies have shown that the CRP level at admission is related to increased short-and long-term major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) treated with PCI. [24][25][26][27] In patients with ACS, the relationship between CRP and cardiovascular outcomes remains uncertain. A high level of CRP may be an indicator of a greater burden of myocardial ischemia and tissue damage.…”

“…10,11,35 Acet et al found that the combination of CAR and The Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events score was an independent predictor of short-term MACEs in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI. 27 Kalyoncuoglu and Durmus showed that CAR is also useful for predicting the severity of CAD in non-STEMI patients. 36 In light of these results, it is reasonable to predict an association between CAR and coronary flow in patients with STEMI.…”

“…CAR is a biomarker that has been studied as a prognostic marker in inflammatory and infectious diseases, and malignancy [14][15]. In the current literature, there are studies on the predictive ability of CAR in patients with COVID-19.…”
