Purpose:To evaluate the diffusion-weighted (DW) imaging characteristics of nonmalignant lesion subtypes assessed as false-positive findings at conventional breast magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Materials and Methods:This HIPAA-compliant retrospective study had institutional review board approval, and the need for informed patient consent was waived. Lesions assessed as Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System category 4 or 5 at clinical dynamic contrast material-enhanced MR imaging that subsequently proved nonmalignant at biopsy were retrospectively reviewed. One hundred seventy-five nonmalignant breast lesions in 165 women were evaluated. Apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCs) from DW imaging (b = 0, 600 sec/mm 2 ) were calculated for each lesion and were compared between subtypes and with an ADC threshold of 1.81 3 10 23 mm 2 /sec (determined in a prior study to achieve 100% sensitivity). Results:Eighty-one (46%) lesions exhibited ADCs greater than the predetermined threshold. /sec; n = 23) was the most common lesion subtype with ADC below the threshold. Lymph nodes exhibited the lowest mean ADC of all nonmalignant lesions ([1.28 6 0.23] 3 10 23 mm 2 /sec; n = 4). High-risk lesions (atypical ductal hyperplasia and lobular neoplasia) showed significantly lower ADCs than other benign lesions (P , .0001) and were the most common lesions with ADCs below the threshold. Conclusion:Assessing ADC along with dynamic contrast-enhanced MR imaging features may decrease the number of avoidable false-positive findings at breast MR imaging and reduce the number of preventable biopsies.

Aims: Gallbladder polyps often have a benign nature. Current guidelines suggest surgical removal of polyps greater than 10 mm. However, the accuracy of the size criteria is limited because neoplasia can be found in gallbladder polyps less than 10 mm. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of real time elastography for gallbladder polyps and to demonstrate the elasticity properties of the polyps. Material and method: Fifty-three polypoid lesions of the gallbladder were prospectively examined with real-time elastography. Of these patients, 52 had a diagnosis of benign gallbladder polyps and one patient was accepted as a gallbladder carcinoma due to its clinical and radiological findings. B-mode and real-time elastographic images were simultaneously presented as a two-panel image, and the elastogram was displayed in a color scale that ranged from red (greatest strain, softest component), to green (average strain, intermediate component), to blue (no strain, hardest component). Results: The mean size for benign gallbladder polyps was 7.2 ± 3 mm (range, 5-21 mm). All benign gallbladder polyps on consecutive real-time elastographic images appeared as having a high-strain elastographic pattern. Only one patient who was accepted with gallbladder carcinoma had a gallbladder polyp with low elasticity properties. Conclusions: Our study showed that real time elastography of gallbladder polyps is feasible. This novel approach may be useful for the characterization of polypoid lesions of the gallbladder.

Solid breast mass in patients carries a higher risk of breast cancer compared with no solid mass (OR = 1.384, 95%CI: 1.022-1.873), suggesting that clinicians who discover solid breast masses in patients should be alert to the risk of breast cancer (Satake et al, 2011).Organs from those whose occupations were staff and government had the highest detection rate of breast cancer, which may be due to a relatively high standard of living including normal intake of high fat and more high-calorie foods, leading to increased prevalence of breast cancer. Those occupations involve busy arduous tasks and mental stress, which result in a high rate of screening.…”
