Predictive Validity of the Single Leg Hamstring Bridge Test in Military Settings

Abstract: The hamstrings are an important biarticular muscle group that plays an important role in the occupational performance of military personnel. The single leg hamstring bridge test (SLHBT) could be a good test to screen military personnel performance. The aims of our study were to assess of the reproducibility of the SLHBT in the military population and to use receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis to examine the ability of the SLHBT to discriminate between soldiers with poor and good baseline fitness. A cross-s… Show more

“…Em relação ao teste de Função de Extensores de Quadril, novamente, este estudo identificou valores inferiores aos sugeridos pela literatura (PORI et al, 2021), apenas 3,3% dos participantes apresentou o valor esperado no lado DOM e nenhum participante alcançou o valor esperado no lado NDOM. Os autores mencionados indicam que a boa função muscular desse grupo está associada com pelo menos 12 repetições corretas em cada membro testado.…”

“…The knee that bends in the single-leg bridge is considered the dominant hamstring. However, the weakness of the gluteus maximus and medius in high hamstring activation may reduce these exercises' contribution to gluteal strengthening (Lehecka et al, 2017;Pori et al, 2021). In addition, there is a functional-anatomical relationship between the hamstring muscles and the sacrotuberous ligament which also impacts trunk stability (Vleeming, Stoeckart and Snijders, 1989).…”

“…The first one would be the use of field screening with the Single Leg Hamstring Bridge Test (SLHBT) [ 52 ]. The SLHBT is a simple and affordable test that could be used in the initial physical conditioning screening of hamstring strength and asymmetry evaluation [ 54 , 55 ]. If the asymmetries exceed 15% [ 56 ], we recommend the second stage in which the isokinetic testing should comprehensively evaluate those athletes.…”
