Prediction of Water Temperature as Affected by a Pre‐Constructed Reservoir Project Based on MIKE11

Abstract: Research Article Prediction of Water Temperature as Affected by a Pre-Constructed Reservoir Project Based on MIKE11Reservoir construction can lead to much more water stored in front of the dam and significantly increase heat storage capacity of the reservoir waters, thus resulting in different distribution pattern of water temperature in reservoir area compared to river. Especially for large reservoir, the obvious stratification of water temperature will appear in the reservoir with deeper water levels. Meanwh… Show more

“…However, the standardized numerical models in China are still not provided yet up to date. Most models such as MIKE models, EFDC model, and Delft 3D model have been applied to simulate water environmental quality in most institutes of environmental impact assessment [70, 71]. However, little information is available on the differences in model results from different models and the suitability and parameter sensitivity of these models.…”

“…Jiang Chunbo et al [1] used a fully explicit finite volume method to simulate the distribution of the water temperature and pollutants for the long-term flow of water in a large-scale areaconsidering the change of the free water surface. Deng Yun [2] used the governing equations assumed by the rigid cap and used the two-dimensional k-ε equation to determine the vertical diffusion coefficient, and carried out a prediction study on the water temperature of the Ertan and Three Gorges reservoirs; Tang Xiao et al [3] studied the multidimensional prediction of the water temperature of the reservoir by the FLUENT software.…”

“…Dams drastically alter freshwater ecosystems [ 3 – 5 ]. Damming, particularly for the huge projects, can result in large-scale environmental variation, ecosystem fragmentation, and habitat alteration [ 2 , 6 ]. For example, former riverine habitats can be transformed into a habitat cascade of the lentic, transitional and lotic habitats associated with different environmental conditions along a reservoir [ 4 ].…”
