Since software systems become more complex than before, software ageing problems have a big impact on the performance of running software systems. To find software ageing in advance, some prediction methods were used to forecast those parameters which can indicate software ageing occurrences. Since the unsuitable parameters can reduce the prediction ability of an algorithm, in this study, multilayer perceptron (MLP) with ridge is proposed to improve the prediction accuracy of MLP and apply in software ageing problems. The proposed approach is a three‐step method. First, a pre‐processing process needs to be done by using outlier recognition, dispose, and normalisation. Second, MLP with ridge is proposed and used to optimise network structure. Third, a glowworm swarm optimisation method is utilised to automatically find optimal values of model parameters. In the experimental section, the results indicate that the proposed algorithm owns higher forecast accuracy than other state‐of‐the‐art methods on two levels.

Проведено огляд та аналіз літературних джерел, в яких досліджено явища старіння програмного забезпечення. Процес старіння охарактеризовано як погіршення продуктивності і збільшення кількості відмов, що має негативний вплив на показники надійності програмного забезпечення. Встановлено, що помилки програмного забезпечення та їх накопичення протягом виконання програми є причиною виникнення старіння програмного забезпечення. Визначено основні поняття та характеристики, що стосуються явища старіння, зокрема ефекти, чинники та метрики старіння, час до виснаження ресурсів, час до відмови старіння та робоче навантаження. Розглянуто класифікацію чинників старіння програмного забезпечення. Встановлено, що чинники можуть бути загальні для всіх систем і спеціальні для конкретних систем, зокрема мобільних. Здійснено порівняльний аналіз основних методів та підходів до моделювання процесу старіння програмного забезпечення. З'ясовано, що розроблення гібридних підходів та моделей, які включають переваги аналітичних моделей та моделей на основі вимірювань, є перспективним напрямом у вивченні проблеми старіння ПЗ. Показано, що мобільні операційні системи та додатки є особливо чутливими до ефектів старіння, оскільки вони працюють тривалий час без перезавантаження та часто мають обмежені ресурси, такі як пам'ять. Обґрунтовано актуальність урахування впливу цього явища для забезпечення надійності сучасних мобільних і вбудованих систем.

With the inception of the web now being more than 20 years ago, many web-based learning technology systems (LTS) have had a long life and have undergone many changes, both affecting content and infrastructure technologies. A change factor model can capture the various factors causing LTS to change. Methods for change-aware design of LTS have been suggested. The purpose of this investigation is, firstly, to add empirical results to aspects of these models and methods in order to show the relevance of such a change factor model by specifically looking at an LTS that has been developed, maintained and extended over a period of 20 years. Secondly, these results shall be used to develop a conceptual model capturing and assessing the impact of change. A key observation is an unexpectedly high impact of environmental constraints on the LTS, but also new opportunities emerging over time have had dramatic changes as their consequence.
