Prediction of Litho-Porosity Using Incompressibility and Rigidity, Offshore Niger Delta, Nigeria

Abstract: The computed velocity ratio and Poisson’s ratio were used to calculate the pore fluid and lithology content. The gas sand, oil sand, and brine sand were identified using velocity ratio and Poisson’s ratio analyses. The velocity ratio and Poisson’s ratio study supported the gas sand anticipated by the rock physics analysis using lambda-mho and mu-rho. The velocity ratio and Poisson’s ratio analyses were used to better define the wet sand anticipated by the lambda-mho and mu-rho rock physics analyses. Lithology … Show more

“…In recent days, AVO analysis has been widely applied in hydrocarbon exploration studies [18][19][20][21][22] . In the Niger Delta, AVO techniques have been used to determine anomalous and gas zones in wells [23][24][25][26][27] , detect hydrocarbon reservoirs on pre-stack time seismic data [28] , and identify hydrocarbon-charged reservoirs using Rock physics modeling and Lamda-Mu-Rho (LMR) seismic inversion [28] . The focus of the research has primarily been on conducting AVO Inversion analysis on pre-stack seismic data and well information to reveal geologic structures and impedance contrasts within lithology.…”

“…Therefore, the primary aim of oil and gas exploration in the Niger Delta is to locate reservoirs that contain hydrocarbons. The Niger Delta reservoir rocks are sandstone, according to numerous geological investigations, including those by Onyekuru et al [2], Nwokoma et al [3], Inyang et al [4], Reijers [5], Doust and Omatsola [6], Weber and Daukoru [7], and Short and Stauble [8].…”

“…The distribution of petrophysical properties and trends found during formation evaluation can be used to derive this. Scientists are currently studying the "X Field", located offshore in Nigeria's Niger Delta and the Gulf of Guinea, in order to gain a better understanding of the geological factors that contribute to the formation and preservation of hydrocarbon reservoirs [1][2][3][4][5]. By analyzing the depositional settings and reservoir quality in this area, researchers aim to improve hydrocarbon recovery and production, identify regions with high hydrocarbon potential, and guide future exploration efforts.…”
