The study aims to discuss the impact of the analysis of events after the reporting date (subsequent events) on management decision-making. In the interval between the end of the reporting period and the publication of the annual financial report, company management may learn about events that either occurred during the reporting period but were previously unknown or occurred when the financial report was already prepared but not approved. The consequences of these events can be so serious that they require adjustments to the financial statements, changes in the company’s strategy and tactics, and radical management transformations. The paper structures such events depending on their impact on business performance and the procedure for reporting and identifies the determinants and mechanisms for their analysis and correct accounting. To assess the complex impact of events after the reporting period on the financial results of a company, an integral indicator is proposed, a set of management measures is defined in accordance with the values of this indicator, and the mechanism for its calculation and use is demonstrated on the example of a hypothetical scenario. The sensitivity analysis of this indicator to fluctuations in the weighting coefficients of its components was performed using the Monte Carlo method. In an environment where transparency, accountability, trust between key stakeholders, adaptability, and proactivity are crucial for effective management, this indicator can be used as an effective metric that is taken into account by auditors, regulators, clients, investors, company management, etc.

The consequences of Industry 4.0 have adverse side effects on cybercrime growth, which requires creating an effective cybersecurity system for companies. Therefore, this study aims to develop a composite indicator of company cybersecurity to assess its development needs. For this purpose, the authors modified Porter’s method by constructing a superposition matrix based on the growth rates of cyber threats and risks, calculating their quantitative characteristics and a composite indicator. The computations are based on indicators for 2016-2022 characterizing cybersecurity vulnerabilities and the consequences of cyber threats: the share of companies experiencing one, six or more successful cyberattacks, considering the likely and very likely success of cyberattacks on them in the next 12 months, security threat and concern indices, the share of companies with a growing security budget affected by ransomware and experiencing a shortage of skilled IT security personnel, the cost of stolen or compromised credentials. As a result, cybersecurity needs increased significantly for 2020-2022, mainly due to digital transformation and the cyber threats growth after the COVID-19 pandemic. A comparative analysis of the proposed indicator with those characterizing the development of Industry 4.0 showed that the need for a reliable cybersecurity system is much more important than the active development of modern technologies. Spending on IT is also increasing, but not enough to meet the needs of cybersecurity development, except for the 2022 results. The proposed indicator is defined for companies worldwide, but its versatility allows the methodology to be applied to enterprises of various industries and sizes.

This study aims to examine whether the labor productivity of the US population directly depends on public or private insurance coverage of people, employment level, life expectancies, spending on the public health system as a percentage of GDP, and spending on the public health system in natural terms. Empirical testing was carried out on the USА statistical data for 1987–2021 using a regression model with the fitting procedure backward stepwise selection (in Statgraphics software), and a multivariate adaptive regression spline MARS (using Salford Predictive Modeler software). The research hypothesis was confirmed for only two indicators: life expectancies and spending on the public health system in natural terms. Their impact on labor productivity appeared to be directly proportional. As an indicator, spending on the public health system has a greater impact on the change in productivity (0.0058%), whereas life expectancy has a lesser effect (0.0047%). The study showed that the MARS model provides more objective and accurate results compared to the regression model with the fitting procedure – backward stepwise selection. This conclusion is based on a comparison of real data modeled by both methods. The study proved that labor productivity in the USA grew yearly from 1987 to 2021 (the constant term in the MARS model’s regression equation is +0.48428). To calculate the specific values of labor productivity for each year, a model was developed depending on the optimal basic functions (automatically generated by the MARS model depending on the current values of life expectancies and spending on the public health system in natural terms).
