Prediction Method on the Static Stability of a Coal Water Mixture

Abstract: To shorten the testing duration on the static stability of a coal water mixture (CWM), the temperature was selected as an acceleration factor and its influence on the static stability of the CWM was studied quantitatively and objectively using a Turbiscan Lab analyzer. Moreover, the apparent viscosity and variation of the particle mean diameter were tested to elucidate the effect of the temperature on the static stability of the CWM. The results showed that the increase in the temperature caused more dispersan… Show more

“…It can effectively reflect the change of suspension stability over time, and help analyze the mechanism of suspension stability. This technology has been applied to characterize the dispersion stability of dispersion systems such as concentrated emulsion and suspension 33–37 . But in the research of preparing composites by powder slurry method, multiple light scattering technologies has not yet been used to analyze the stability of suspension quantitatively.…”

“…When the particle volume fraction or diameter changed, there will have a variation in the BS and T signals 33–36 . Turbiscan stability index (TSI) is a relative value obtained according to the light variation of scan height to the total height 36,37 . It can be obtained using Equation (). TSIgoodbreak=i=1nh=1n||scani()hgoodbreak−scani1()hH, where h is the scan height and H is the total height of the measured sample.…”

“…Although the common commercial dispersants are used for the stabilization of CWS, the natural additives could be a viable option in consideration of both the environment and economy. 5,193 Viscosity is a crucial rheological property of CWS. The viscosity and shear stress of CWS can be reduced by adding an appropriate amount of dispersant.…”

“…The properties of dispersant have a noticeably crucial effect on the flow behavior of CWS, and thus, the selection of dispersant is of vital importance. Although the common commercial dispersants are used for the stabilization of CWS, the natural additives could be a viable option in consideration of both the environment and economy. , …”
