Predicting winds and air quality within the Las Vegas Valley

Abstract

SUMMARYA ÿnite element model that employs local mesh adaptation is used to calculate wind ÿelds and pollutant transport within the Las Vegas Valley. Meteorological data collected from various country, city, and government agencies are used to generate diagnostic ow ÿelds, which subsequently provide initial conditions for the prognostic solution of the time-dependent equations of motion and species transport.
