Predicting optimum hollowness of normally loaded cylindrical rollers using finite element analysis

Abstract: Fatigue life investigations have been made for hollow rollers in pure normal loading. Different hollowness percentages between 20 and 80% have been tested to find the optimum percentage hollowness that gives the longest fatigue life. Two main models were built for this purpose: model 1 with two identically sized rollers and model 2 with two non-identically sized rollers. In each model, two cases have been studied: when both rollers are hollow and when one roller is hollow while the other one is solid. The Ioan… Show more

“…Studies show a tangible link between urine BPA levels and cardiovascular illness, liver enzyme abnormalities, and type 2 diabetes. BPA has also been linked to neurobehavioral problems (e.g., autism), aberrant urethra/penile development in males, early sexual maturation in females, and a rise in hormonally mediated malignancies such as breast and prostate cancers [26].…”

“…2 In practice, the bearings and gears should exhibit superior mechanical properties, such as high fracture toughness, good wear and corrosion resistances at high operation temperature and high speed. 3 Thus, the surface treatment of the M50NiL steel is indispensable to further improve its surface mechanical properties. To our knowledge, the majority of studies for surface treatment of M50NiL steel have been conducted by using gas carburising and nitrocarburising.…”
