“…Additionally, the PAI manual reports convergent and discriminant validity with over 50 measures of psychopathology; specifically, the RXR was negatively associated with the Beck Depression Inventory ( [43]; r = À0.30 to À0.40), negatively associated with the "Poor Morale" MMPI content scale by Wiggins ( [44,45]; r = À0.78), and positively related to measures of perceived social support in college students (r = 0.26-0.49). TPI has been found to be a significant predictor of treatment outcome status as well as disruptive behavior in clinical settings (19,23). However, the PAI manual does not report reliability values for TPI scores as it is an index based on scale combinations.…”

“…RXR has been shown to significantly differentiate individuals actively engaged in treatment and those not currently receiving treatment, in samples of clinical verses nonclinical subjects (3,17,18). Previous literature has also reported that the TPI scale predicted treatment completion rates from noncompletion rates in specialized treatment settings, such as an outpatient training clinic, an outpatient treatment center for chronic pain, and court‐mandated outpatient centers for sexual behavior and substance abuse treatment (19–22). However, a 2012 study (23) reported that neither RXR nor TPI predicted treatment progress in a court‐mandated residential substance abuse treatment program.…”

“…To be able to work on all these aspects, it is obvious and unavoidable for the family members to attend sessions and to collaborate. Taking psychotherapy research as a reference (because it pays more attention to this issue), the standard definition of “dropout” is unilateral termination of consultation by a person or people (couple and family), despite the professional's recommendation that they continue and despite their problems continuing (Hopwood, Ambwani, & Morey, ; Swift & Greenberg, ). Recent studies propose the more complex concept of “engagement,” which points to attitudinal components linked to collaboration and emotional involvement with the treatment (Gopalan et al, ).…”

“…5,6 The construct of treatment rejection refers to one's level of motivation and openness for treatment; thus, individuals high in treatment rejection have a low motivation and openness for treatment. 7 Past research has indicated that the presence of comorbid psychopathology is associated with an increased risk for treatment rejection among individuals in treatment for SUDs. 3 However, past research has not examined the relationship between treatment rejection and eating disorder (ED) symptoms among individuals seeking treatment for SUDs.…”
